President John Dramani Mahama has thrown his weight behind Asante Kotoko as they return to continental action in the CAF Confederation Cup after a five-year absence.

The Ghanaian leader charged the Porcupine Warriors to play with pride and determination when they square up against Nigeria’s Kwara United in the preliminary round first-leg clash at the Accra Sports Stadium today.

Mahama gave the pep talk on Friday during the team’s courtesy visit to the Jubilee House. He reminded the Warriors of their rich history, recalling their 1995 run to the quarterfinals of the same competition.

Kotoko will travel to Nigeria next week for the decisive return leg at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
