A raging fire has razed a residential building in the Hotoro Ring Road area of Nassarawa Local Government, Kano State, leaving extensive damage in its wake.

The inferno, which broke out on Tuesday morning, November 11, 2025, was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, ACFO Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to Abdullahi, the service received a distress call around 9:20 a.m. from one Alhaji Halliru Ibrahim, reporting the fire incident opposite Arewa Surgery. “Our teams from the Central and Bompai Fire Stations immediately raced to the scene,” he said.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the one-storey building, measuring about 75 by 100 feet, already engulfed in flames. The structure contained two bedrooms, two parlours, three toilets, two kitchens, stores, a corridor, a staircase, a balcony, and other spaces — all on the upper floor, which was completely consumed by the blaze.

Abdullahi disclosed that three fire jets from the command units were deployed to extinguish the flames. He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, cautioned residents to always switch off electrical appliances when not in use and handle fire with care to prevent similar occurrences.
