Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has disowned the controversial move to expel Nyesom Wike, Ayodele Fayose, Samuel Anyanwu and other prominent figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting he played no role in the decision.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Gyang Bere, the governor clarified that the proposal was never tabled or debated at the PDP Governors Forum or the National Executive Committee (NEC) before it was suddenly introduced.
“The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has formally distanced himself from the expulsion of the Minister of the FCT and former Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike; former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; Samuel Anyanwu alongside other leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),” the statement noted, stressing that the initiative does not reflect his position.
Mutfwang warned that purging major party stakeholders at a delicate moment like this would only deepen the PDP’s internal crisis rather than resolve it.
He instead urged party members to embrace unity, pursue dialogue, and strengthen teamwork to rebuild the party.
