General Uba, the Brigade Commander of Damboa, has been confirmed dead after ISWAP terrorists allegedly recaptured him in the forest, hours after he was first declared missing.

Military sources disclosed that the senior officer had earlier sent a video assuring troops and colleagues of his safety. “He was okay,” one source said, noting that the recording was made before his condition deteriorated.

Sources revealed that the commander later became disoriented while navigating the forest, prompting urgent rescue efforts. Ground troops and air units launched multiple operations to locate and extract him.

General Uba reportedly communicated that he was already making his way back to base, raising expectations of a swift return. But as viral reports of his abduction spread, terrorists allegedly tracked and seized him again.

The military had earlier announced that the commander had safely returned to base, a claim now contradicted by confirmation of his death. The development has triggered tough questions about transparency within the military and the protection of personnel on the frontlines.
