The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a vessel loaded with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine at the Apapa seaport in Lagos, tightening its clampdown on transnational drug trafficking networks.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, announced the breakthrough in a statement on Friday, revealing that the vessel, MV Nord Bosporus (registration number 9760110), sailed into Nigeria from Santos, Brazil, before officers uncovered the illicit cargo.
According to him, operatives found the class A drug buried beneath the ship’s cargo on Sunday, 16 November 2025. He added that the ship’s master, Captain Quino Eugene Corpus, alongside 19 Filipino crew members, has been arrested and detained for investigation.
Babafemi further disclosed that the agency has filed an ex-parte application before Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court, Lagos, under suit number FHC/L/MISC/1306/25, seeking authorization to detain the vessel and its crew.
