National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, on Tuesday vowed that the ruling government will be unable to manipulate the forthcoming elections, declaring that his party understands and can counter “all their tactics.”
Aregbesola, who spoke in Osogbo during the official unveiling of the ADC in Osun State, described the day as symbolic. It marked exactly 15 years since he assumed office as governor—an anniversary he said still resonates with many residents.
He asserted that the ADC offers Nigerians a credible alternative to worsening insecurity, poverty, hunger and what he termed “years of maladministration and poor governance.”
“Today makes it 15 years since we came into Osun. Our administration was sworn in right here. They cannot rig this coming election; we know their tactics,” he declared.
Aregbesola urged party supporters to mobilise grassroots voters, adding that widespread discontent with current leadership gives the ADC a clear advantage.
He accused the ruling party of failing in economic management, national security and governance, insisting that the public has rejected them. “They tried their best, but God is not with them. They didn’t start with God. They have been disgraceful on all fronts,” he said.
Aregbesola predicted victory for the ADC, saying the party would reclaim Osun by August next year and “move on to take the presidency.”
He added that his achievements as former governor continue to draw strong support. “There is nowhere in Osun that people do not connect with what we represent. Our legacies still speak for us, and that is why we receive this kind of reception every time we return.”
