The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor accused of transporting medical supplies to kidnappers operating in parts of Kwara State.

The suspect was intercepted in the Jebba axis of Moro Local Government Area after intelligence traced him to ongoing medical support networks used by bandit groups. Security sources confirmed that the doctor had been ferrying drugs from Sokoto to the armed gangs, who are believed to be in urgent need of treatment for gunshot wounds sustained in recent clashes with security operatives.

According to DSS officials, recent military offensives in Kwara and surrounding states have severely weakened the criminal camps, forcing them to seek covert medical help.

“Given their desperation, we are urging heightened vigilance and tighter security in health facilities near forest zones which could be targeted for treatment,” an official cautioned.

Troops deployed to flashpoint communities in the state continue to record breakthroughs in operations aimed at flushing out infiltrating bandits.
