Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and crossed over to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), ending months of political suspense.
Announcing his defection on Tuesday evening, Fubara said he moved in reciprocity for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “overwhelming support” to Rivers State. His switch confirms widespread speculation that the alignment was tied to the peace deal brokered between him and the President.
Fubara also accused the PDP of failing to offer him protection, a factor he said pushed him to seek refuge in the APC.
