The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has issued a fresh warning against private conversations and close interactions between men and women, declaring such conduct a violation of Sharia law, particularly during festive celebrations.

The directive was disclosed on Wednesday in a statement signed by the State Commander of the Hisbah Commission, Dr. Muhammad Yawudi Kale, and approved by the Commission’s Chairman, Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar.

According to the statement, the Commission will no longer tolerate private “chatting” between men and women under any guise, describing the practice as incompatible with Islamic principles guiding social conduct in the state.

The Hisbah also cautioned residents against reckless driving and unnecessary movement in vehicles during public events such as weddings and Sallah celebrations. It specifically warned against physical contact between men and women in public transport, including tricycles (Keke Napep), motorcycles, and other public spaces.

The Commission urged parents and community leaders to cooperate with its officers to ensure strict compliance, stressing that the measures are aimed at safeguarding public morality and protecting the moral upbringing of children across the state.
