The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday ratified the appointment of Wahid Enitan Oshodi as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund, following a successful screening exercise.
The confirmation came after the Chairman of the ad-hoc Committee, Fatai Mojeed, presented the panel’s report to lawmakers. The committee conducted the screening in line with Sections 106 and 192 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
Mojeed told the House that the committee rigorously assessed Oshodi’s academic and professional credentials, conduct, responses to questions, and overall presentation. He said lawmakers interrogated the nominee on key sectoral issues, which he addressed with clarity and confidence.
According to the committee, a review of previous appointments to the office, alongside Oshodi’s track record and experience in public service, showed that he met and surpassed the standards required for the position.
On the strength of its findings, the committee unanimously recommended the former Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development for confirmation.
The House adopted the report without dissent and immediately ratified the appointment.
Following the resolution, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa directed the Clerk of the House, Olalekan Onafeko, to transmit the Assembly’s decision to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for further action.
