In a decisive executive action, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has disbanded his entire cabinet with immediate effect, directing all political appointees to relinquish their positions.
The announcement came in a brief statement issued late Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Governor Fubara ordered all Commissioners and Special Advisers to transfer their responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies without delay.
In the statement, the governor expressed appreciation to the outgoing officials for their service, commending what he described as their “immense contributions” to his administration and the development of the state. He wished them well in their future pursuits and acknowledged their roles in advancing government programmes.
The sweeping dissolution signals a major shake-up within the executive arm of the Rivers State Government and paves the way for fresh appointments, as the administration prepares to recalibrate its policy and governance direction.
