The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has approved the posting and assignment of portfolios to newly promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) within the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency across the force.

According to an internal wireless message from the office of the Force Secretary, the new assignments cover key departments and specialised units at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The development comes shortly after the IGP decorated the senior officers earlier in the week and urged them to strengthen intelligence-led policing and enhance collaboration among security agencies nationwide.

The message also confirmed that the postings include DIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, who had been decorated the previous week.

Under the new arrangement, DIG Zachariah Fera Achinyan has been assigned to head the Department of Legal Services (DLS) at Force Headquarters, Abuja, while DIG Zango Ibrahim Baba will oversee the Department of Research and Planning (R&P).

Similarly, DIG Isyaku Mohammed has been posted to the Department of Training and Development (DTD), while DIG Margaret Ochalla will head the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja.

Other postings include DIG Mohammed Sulaiman to the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA); DIG Kenechukwu AIG Onwuemelie to the Force Intelligence Department (FID); DIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha to the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT); and DIG Umar Shehu Nadada to the Department of Operations (DOPS).

The directive, marked “most immediate,” has been circulated across commands, departments and specialised units of the police including border patrol, maritime, anti-bomb squads, K9 units and various state commands.

Authorities said officers have been instructed to update internal administrative records to reflect the new postings.

The reshuffle is considered part of routine administrative adjustments aimed at strengthening coordination, intelligence gathering and operational effectiveness within the Nigeria Police Force.
