Head coach of Wikki Tourists, Evans Ogenyi, has expressed strong optimism ahead of the club’s Matchday 31 encounter with Barau FC.

The Bauchi-based side, popularly known as the Bauchi Elephants, will face Barau FC this weekend at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium in what is expected to be a crucial fixture as the league season enters its decisive stage.

Speaking after his team’s recent outing, Ogenyi said the squad is expected to perform better now that the Ramadan fasting period has ended, noting that players will regain full strength.

“Our next outing will be better because the players will be stronger after the fasting period,” the coach said during his post-match interview.

Since taking charge of the team, Ogenyi has gradually rebuilt confidence within the squad, and the team has begun to show signs of improvement in attack. Wikki Tourists have scored four goals in their last two matches, indicating growing attacking momentum.

Despite the improvement, the team currently sits in 17th position on the league table with 35 points after suffering a defeat to Shooting Stars Sports Club in their previous match.

The upcoming fixture against Barau FC will therefore be crucial as Wikki Tourists seek to climb out of the lower end of the standings and secure vital points.

With only a few matches left in the season, the Bauchi Elephants will be hoping their renewed energy and improved confidence translate into a strong performance at home.
