A presenter on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Rufai Oseni, has said he will subject the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and its prospective presidential candidate to intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Wednesday, Oseni insisted that the party must urgently outline clear policies and a defined direction for Nigerians, warning that political momentum driven by defections alone would not be enough.
He argued that the NDC must present a coherent manifesto and ideological framework as it prepares to choose its presidential flagbearer, adding that he would assess the party based on the clarity and strength of its proposals.
Oseni also revealed plans to interview former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, stressing that the politician must provide detailed and practical policy solutions to Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
“The only challenge I see is for the NDC to clearly tell Nigerians what they intend to do, and that is what I will scrutinise,” he said.
He dismissed unverified claims of mass mobilisation, noting that credible plans, not rhetoric, would determine public trust.
“They need to come out with a rigorous plan. Nigeria is under serious strain, and there are critical issues—foreign exchange, subsidy, welfare, and social development—that must be addressed,” he added.
Oseni warned that he would hold both the party and its potential candidate accountable if they fail to present concrete proposals.
“If they do not show Nigerians where they are headed in the next few days, I will strongly challenge them,” he said.
He maintained that any political movement seeking to lead the country must demonstrate competence and clarity, stressing that the stakes for Nigeria’s future remain too high for vague promises.
