The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following proceedings held on Monday. The court approved the El-Rufai bail application with strict conditions attached to the ruling.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who delivered the decision, fixed the bail at N100 million with one surety required to provide the same amount. The court stated that the surety must live within either the Maitama or Asokoro areas of Abuja.
As part of the El-Rufai bail conditions, the surety must also submit the original Certificate of Occupancy for a landed property to the court registry. The judge further directed that the surety must be a federal civil servant on at least Grade Level 17.
In addition, the court ordered the surety to present proof of salary payments covering a minimum of three months. The court also demanded proper verification of the documents through a letter issued by the surety’s bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.
The ruling marks another major development involving the former governor, as attention now shifts to the next stage of the legal proceedings. Legal observers continue to monitor the case closely due to its political significance and the strict terms attached to the El-Rufai bail approval.
More details regarding the matter are still expected to emerge as the case progresses before the court.
