The counterterrorism operations Nigeria campaign recorded a major breakthrough after the Defence Headquarters confirmed that joint missions involving Nigerian troops and the United States Africa Command led to the d+ath of 175 ISIS-linked terr+rists in North-East Nigeria.

According to Defence Information Director Samaila Uba, the coordinated air and ground offensives focused on terrorist camps, we@pons storage locations, checkpoints, logistics centres and financial networks connected to insurgent activities across the region.

Military authorities stated that several high-ranking commanders from the Islamic State West Africa Province were among those neutralised. They identified Abu-Bilal al-Minuki as one of the most significant figures k+lled during the operation. Officials described him as a major ISIS operative involved in financing, recruitment, logistics and planning att@cks.

Other commanders reportedly eliminated include Abd-al Wahhab, Abu Musa al-Mangawi and Abu al-Muthanna al-Muhajir. The military linked them to propaganda activities, media coordination and operational planning for the extremist group.

The Defence Headquarters said the success of the counterterrorism operations Nigeria effort has disrupted communication channels and weakened external att@ck networks connected to the insurgents. Officials believe the strikes will reduce the group’s ability to organise future operations in the region.

The Armed Forces also reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the counterterrorism operations Nigeria mission alongside international partners. Authorities stressed that security forces remain focused on dismantling remaining terr+rist cells and restoring stability in affected communities across North-East Nigeria.

Do you think stronger international military partnerships can help end insurgency in Nigeria permanently?
