Afrobeats Giants Dominate 2026 BET Awards Nominations

Nigerian Afrobeats stars Wizkid, Burna Boy, Asake and Tems have secured nominations for the 2026 BET Awards, reinforcing Nigeria’s growing influence on the global music stage.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to hold in Los Angeles on June 28, 2026, with comedian Druski set to host the event live on BET.

The nominations list released on Tuesday placed several Nigerian artistes in major categories.

Wizkid and Asake clinched a joint nomination in the Best Group category following their successful collaborations and chart dominating releases.

Tems emerged as one of Africa’s leading nominees with three nominations, including Best Female R and B Pop Artist, BET Her Award for her song First and the Viewers’ Choice Award for Raindance, her collaboration with Dave.

Burna Boy also earned a nomination in the Best Collaboration category for his appearance on Gunna’s hit track WGFT.
