Solomon Adeola has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State after securing 304,055 votes during the party’s primary election.
The Solomon Adeola APC victory was confirmed on Thursday in Abeokuta by Wale Ohu, chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee for Ogun State.
According to results announced by returning officers across the 20 local government areas, the APC primary recorded 343,292 registered voters and 305,287 accredited voters. Adeola defeated fellow contestant Abayomi Hunye, who scored no votes.
“There were two contestants. Sen. Solomon Adeola scored 304,055 votes while Mr Abayomi Hunye polled zero,” Ohu stated.
Following the Solomon Adeola APC triumph, the senator promised to continue the development projects and achievements of Dapo Abiodun if elected governor in 2027.
Adeola praised the governor for organising what he described as a peaceful and transparent primary election. “I never imagined the exercise would be this peaceful. I thought it was usual primaries where people struggle and fight. God is on our side,” he said.
The senator also described the process as Ogun State’s first peaceful transition arrangement in 15 years ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
Adeola thanked Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and mentorship throughout his political career, describing the president as a father figure and role model.
Governor Abiodun welcomed the outcome and said the peaceful exercise reflected the confidence party members had in Adeola’s leadership.
The Solomon Adeola APC emergence has already attracted attention across Ogun State as preparations begin for the 2027 governorship election.
