Bruno Fernandes made Premier League history after setting a new assist record during Manchester United’s final match of the season against Brighton on Sunday. The Portuguese midfielder delivered another standout display as he guided United to a strong start with his remarkable creativity.

Fernandes produced the opening goal by curling a precise corner from the right flank, allowing Patrick Dorgu to head home with confidence. That assist took the United captain to an incredible 21 assists for the 2025-26 campaign, making him the first player ever to reach that number in a single Premier League season.

The achievement moved Fernandes ahead of former record holders Thierry Henry and Kevin de Bruyne, who both finished on 20 assists during the 2002-03 and 2019-20 seasons respectively. His latest milestone added another memorable moment to an already outstanding year for the midfielder.

On Saturday, Fernandes also received the Premier League Player of the Season award after consistently producing match-winning performances for Manchester United throughout the campaign. His leadership, passing range and vision have played a major role in the club’s success this season.

The updated list of players with the most assists in one Premier League season now places Fernandes alone at the top. Behind him sit De Bruyne and Henry on 20, followed by Mesut Ozil with 19 and Cesc Fabregas with 18.

Can Bruno Fernandes raise the bar even higher next season with Manchester United?
