Barcelona Complete Major Anthony Gordon Signing

While the club did not reveal the financial details of the deal, reports in Britain suggest Barcelona paid an initial fee of €80 million with additional performance-related bonuses. The move marks one of the biggest transfers of the summer and highlights Barcelona’s determination to build on their recent success.

In announcing the deal, Barcelona praised Gordon’s outstanding performances for Newcastle. The club noted that he finished as the team’s top scorer last season and completed more dribbles than any of his teammates. Barcelona also pointed to the winger’s impressive displays against them in the UEFA Champions League, where he caught the eye across three meetings.

The Anthony Gordon transfer comes after a prolific campaign in which the 25-year-old scored 17 goals in all competitions. Since arriving from Everton in January 2023, Gordon made 152 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 39 goals and providing 28 assists. He also played a key role in helping the club win the League Cup, ending a 70-year wait for major silverware.
