By Eppe Franklyne| Crystal Palace have appointed Pierre Sage as their new manager following the departure of Oliver Glasner, who left the club after guiding the Eagles to UEFA Conference League success at the end of last season.

The 47-year-old French coach has signed a three-year contract with the Premier League side after an impressive campaign with French club Lens. During his debut season, Sage guided Lens to a second-place finish in Ligue 1, securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League, while also leading the club to its first-ever French Cup triumph.

His outstanding achievements earned him the Ligue 1 Manager of the Year award and attracted the attention of Crystal Palace, who moved quickly to secure his services after Glasner’s exit.

“It’s amazing to be here at Crystal Palace. I am excited by the history of the club and by recent seasons,” Sage said.

“Oliver Glasner achieved some amazing things, and now I have to do the same. That’s why we come here with a lot of ambition.

“The dynamic here is really positive, and we are in this mindset too. We won last year, and we want to continue in this way, in a new club, a new project, but with a lot of winning habits.”

The Pierre Sage appointment comes at a time when Crystal Palace are enjoying one of the most successful periods in their history. The club secured a place in next season’s Europa League after winning the Conference League and previously claimed their first-ever FA Cup title in 2025 with a victory over Manchester City at Wembley.

Chairman Steve Parish expressed confidence in the new manager’s ability to build on the club’s recent achievements.

“I am tremendously excited to welcome Pierre, who joins us off the back of a trophy-winning season at Lens as well as a fabulous second-place finish in Ligue 1,” Parish said.

The Pierre Sage appointment is expected to usher in a new chapter for the south London club as they prepare for another European campaign and aim to continue their upward progress under new leadership.
