Speaking during a livestream with comedian and streamer Cater Efe, the rapper said he paused his music career to focus on personal growth and self-discovery.

The ‘Juice’ hitmaker explained that he deliberately took time away from the industry to better understand himself. According to him, the period helped him develop personally before making a return to music.

“I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self-discovery. But I am back,” YCee said.

As YCee opens up on music break, he also shared the story behind his popular nickname, “Omo Alhaji.” The singer revealed that his father is a Muslim, although he does not actively practise the religion himself.

Furthermore, YCee described his spiritual outlook as one rooted in love rather than strict religious labels.

Before his hiatus, YCee established himself as one of Nigeria’s leading music stars. He gained widespread recognition with hit songs such as Jagaban, Juice, and Omo Alhaji.
