Manchester City have reportedly agreed a deal worth up to £130 million to sign England midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, a move that could become the biggest transfer in British football history.

According to multiple media reports, including the Press Association and the BBC, the agreement would surpass the current British transfer record of £125 million paid by Liverpool to Newcastle United for Alexander Isak last year.

Reports indicate that Manchester City had two earlier offers rejected before reaching an agreement with Nottingham Forest for the 23-year-old midfielder. The transfer could be officially completed before the end of the FIFA World Cup 2026, where Anderson is currently representing England.

Despite the growing speculation, Anderson has insisted that his full attention remains on international duty. “It’s pretty easy really, I’m just focusing on the present, I’m blocking it all out,” he said.

“I’ve got a plan and it’s to perform for England. I’m putting myself in the best position to cross the line and do that.”

The midfielder has featured in both of England’s opening group matches, helping the Three Lions record a 4-2 victory over Croatia before playing in the goalless draw against Ghana. England could secure a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 when they face Panama in their final Group L match on Saturday.

England manager Thomas Tuchel recently described Anderson as the “full package” and expressed confidence that transfer speculation would not affect his performances.

Should the move be finalised, Manchester City would secure one of England’s brightest young midfielders after finishing second in the Premier League last season, while Nottingham Forest would part with a key player following their successful fight to retain top-flight status.
