NDC Accuses INEC of Blocking Candidate Upload

The Nigeria Democratic Coalition (NDC) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of preventing it from uploading the names of its candidates by failing to provide the access code required for the commission’s nomination portal.

The allegation comes as the party prepares to challenge a recent Federal High Court judgment ordering its deregistration.

Speaking on the issue, the party’s National Spokesman, Osa Director, said the NDC approached INEC to obtain the access credentials needed for the online submission of its candidates but did not receive the required code.

According to him, officials of the electoral body told party representatives that they would “get back” to them, leaving the NDC unable to complete the mandatory nomination process before the court delivered its ruling.

“We approached INEC to collect the access code to upload the names of our candidates to the INEC portal. They told us that they will get back to us,” he said.

Director maintained that the party should not be blamed for failing to upload its candidates, insisting that the delay resulted from INEC’s inability to provide the necessary access code.

He said the NDC and INEC matter would be pursued further, with the party planning to make another request to the electoral commission while simultaneously seeking legal relief.

“We will go back there by tomorrow. I believe by tomorrow we must have filed a stay of execution in court,” he added.

The party expressed confidence that the legal process would provide an opportunity to challenge the court’s decision and protect its participation in Nigeria’s democratic process. It also reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing all lawful avenues to resolve the dispute over the INEC nomination portal and the party’s registration status.
