The Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said the party is intensifying efforts to strengthen its structure and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a post shared on his verified X account on Sunday, Kwankwaso revealed that he paid a courtesy visit to the party’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, at his residence in Abuja. He explained that the meeting formed part of ongoing consultations to reinforce the party’s cohesion and improve its 2027 election preparations.

“Today, I paid a courtesy visit to the National Leader of our party, the NDC, His Excellency Seriake Dickson at his residence in Abuja.

“The engagement forms part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the party’s unity, resilience, and strategic readiness as we prepare for the 2027 general elections,” he wrote.

Kwankwaso also reaffirmed the party’s confidence in the judicial system, stressing that the NDC remains committed to democratic values and the rule of law despite recent legal challenges.

“As true democrats, we remain committed to the rule of law and have absolute confidence in the judicial process. No temporary setback can weaken the spirit of a movement built on hope, justice, equity, and the collective aspirations of the Nigerian people,” he stated.

He urged party members and supporters to remain united and focused on the party’s mission.

“I urge all party members, supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians to stay calm, resolute, and focused on our shared mission. Together, we will rise above every challenge.

“Nigeria will be OK,” he added.

In a separate post on his official Facebook page, Seriake Dickson confirmed the meeting, saying both leaders discussed issues affecting the party. He stated that the NDC leadership remains committed to defending multi-party democracy in Nigeria and addressing the issues arising from a recent court ruling.

“We reaffirmed our resolve to stand together in the fight for multi-party democracy, and I briefed him on the measures the party is taking to correct and redress the distractions occasioned by the anomalous ruling of the Federal High Court. We are on course,” he said.

The development follows a ruling by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, which set aside its December 10, 2025 judgment directing the electoral body to register the NDC as a political party. Justice Isah Dashen ruled that the earlier decision was made without hearing all necessary parties, making the proceedings constitutionally defective.

The ruling came after the Peace Movement Party argued that it had a legal interest in the case and should have been included before the original judgment was delivered.
