Local sources have reported that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) carried out a precision airstrike against suspected bandits in Dogon Dawa, along the Niger–Kaduna–Zamfara border region, targeting a large gathering believed to be planning attacks.
The development was shared on Monday by Bakatsine, a journalist known for reporting insecurity in Nigeria’s North-West, in a post on X. Citing local sources, he said the air operation struck the group while they were assembling, leading to the deaths of several suspected bandits.
According to the report, more than 200 motorcycles were seen at the location at the time of the NAF airstrike operation, suggesting a large mobilisation by the armed group.
Some survivors reportedly sustained injuries and fled into nearby forests, moving through routes between Shadadi and Ma’undu via the Mangwaro axis. The movement followed the impact of the NAF airstrike operation, which disrupted the suspected gathering.
Bakatsine described the incident as a significant setback for armed groups operating in the region and praised the Nigerian Air Force for maintaining sustained pressure on bandit networks. He commended the military for its continued efforts to protect vulnerable communities across affected areas.
