Arsenal Agree £75m Deal for Guimaraes

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a £75 million deal to sign Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes, strengthening their squad as they prepare to defend the Premier League title and compete for major honours in Europe. The proposed Bruno Guimaraes transfer is expected to add quality and experience to Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

According to reports from Sky Sports, Arsenal’s initial bid for the 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder was rejected earlier this week. However, the London club returned with an improved offer, which has now reportedly been accepted by Newcastle United. Reuters has contacted both clubs for official confirmation, but neither side has commented on the agreement.

Reports also suggest that Bruno Guimaraes had informed Newcastle of his desire to join Arsenal if an acceptable offer was made. Although Newcastle were eager to keep their captain, the midfielder still had two years remaining on his contract at St James’ Park, with the club holding an option to extend the deal by another year.

Since arriving from Olympique Lyonnais in January 2022, Guimaraes has developed into one of Newcastle’s most influential players. He has made 195 appearances in all competitions, scored 31 goals, and captained the club to League Cup success in 2025, ending a lengthy wait for domestic silverware.

The Bruno Guimaraes transfer follows his appearance for Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he continued to establish himself as a key figure for the national team. His arrival would further strengthen Arsenal’s midfield options under Mikel Arteta.

The reported move represents another significant setback for Newcastle United, following the departures of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali, and former manager Eddie Howe.
