Plateau State Governor Mutfwang has summoned the State Security Council for an emergency meeting after recent security incidents raised concerns about the safety of residents and economic activities across the state.
The meeting took place on Wednesday at the New Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang used the meeting to demand stronger measures to protect lives and property. He also urged security agencies to improve their response to emerging threats.
The council reviewed recent incidents recorded in some communities. It also examined intelligence gathering, information sharing and preventive security operations.
According to the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Gyang Bere, the meeting focused on finding lasting solutions to insecurity.
Security chiefs also discussed how agencies can work more closely to prevent attacks and respond quickly when threats emerge.
The meeting brought together the deputy governor, heads of security and law enforcement agencies, senior government officials and the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba.
Furthermore, the council considered measures to protect businesses and other economic activities affected by insecurity.
Governor Mutfwang’s decision to convene the emergency meeting comes as authorities face pressure to strengthen security across Plateau State.
However, the government has not announced specific new security operations or provided details of any immediate deployment arising from the meeting.
The governor said protecting residents remains a priority as his administration works with security agencies and traditional institutions to address the state’s security challenges.
For residents, the effectiveness of the measures will depend largely on how quickly intelligence translates into preventive action on the ground.
The Plateau State Government is expected to continue working with security agencies to improve coordination and protect communities across the state.
