Angel Lawson has presented his plans for Rivers State during a courtesy visit to Chief Dr Charles I.T. Numbere, Regent of the Kalabari Kingdom.
The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) visited the elder statesman alongside his running mate, Orlu Ibrahim Nyekachi.
During the meeting, the ADP team outlined its development blueprint and explained how it plans to tackle some of the state’s major challenges.
Angel Lawson said his campaign would focus on restoring peace and stability across Rivers State.
He also identified multidimensional poverty as a major challenge that requires urgent action.
According to him, the goal is to create conditions that can help more residents escape poverty and improve their standard of living.
Lawson’s running mate, Orlu Ibrahim Nyekachi, also highlighted the need to create jobs and strengthen productive sectors of the economy.
He said the team would pursue a policy of turning waste into wealth if elected.
The plan, he added, would create opportunities for more people to participate in viable economic activities.
Meanwhile, Chief Numbere commended the two politicians for engaging with issues affecting Rivers State.
He urged Angel Lawson and his running mate to focus on the practical needs of residents rather than political rhetoric.
The Kalabari Regent said their knowledge of the state’s problems could become a major advantage if they developed workable solutions.
He also encouraged the candidates to remain focused on issues that directly affect ordinary people.
In addition, Chief Numbere offered prayers for the success of Lawson and Nyekachi as they pursue their governorship ambition.
The meeting comes as political parties and their candidates continue to position themselves ahead of the Rivers State governorship contest.
For Angel Lawson, the message centred on peace, poverty reduction, employment and economic opportunity.
The success of such promises, however, will ultimately depend on how clearly they can be translated into policies that improve the lives of Rivers residents.
