Babatunji Wusu –
The Kano State Films and Censorship Board has seized over one thousand copies of a primary school reading book due to its inclusion of offensive language.
Additionally, the board has prohibited the use of the book, called ‘Queen Primer Part II,’ in primary schools throughout the State.
Abba Al-Mustapha, the Director of the Board, stated, “We are grateful to God that the issue of a troublesome book titled ‘Queen Primer’, which is being utilized to educate our children in primary schools, came to our attention. This book contains inappropriate language that is not suitable for our children’s ears or education.”
The stance of the Kano State Films and Censorship Board is that the use and sale of this book, as well as any related materials, have been barred in Kano State. Furthermore, the book is prohibited from being used for educational purposes in all primary schools within the State.
