ACCORDING TO REPORTS, ARMED ROBBERS IN ANAMBRA STATE SEXUALLY ASSAULTED AT LEAST NINE FEMALE UNIZIK STUDENTS.

The ongoing robbery attacks in various lodges in the area since the start of the year have Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK / NAU) students who live in the Ifite axis of Awka, Anambra, sobbing aloud.

Nine female students were reportedly sexually assaulted in the earliest hours of Friday by armed robbers who broke into their hostel. The hostels were located on Ifite road in Awka, and the robbers, who were thought to number around 20, stormed the area and began shooting randomly and robbing people from room to room.

According to a university student who spoke with news reporters, the robbers were heavily armed with guns, axes, and matches. “We were at the hostel when we had gunshots that lasted for about ten minutes and we ran for our lives because they had not gotten to our own hostel; we hid at the back of some shops in the area.
