Tunji Wusu –
President Bola Tinubu has forbidden all former Niger Delta militant commanders from visiting him in the presidential mansion in Abuja.
According to reports, the presidency has recently rejected requests for courtesy visits from prominent militant leaders and ethnic groups from the oil-rich region to Tinubu in the villa.
After Alhaji Mujarhedeen Asari-Dokubo, the former commander of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, visited Tinubu on June 16 of this year, it was learnt that the decision was made.
Asari-Dokubo, one of Tinubu’s most ardent and devoted supporters, backed and assisted the president in the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election.
According to reports, Asari-Dokubo’s public comments and behavior after visiting Tinubu a few days after he took office as the nation’s leader upset Tinubu, who then decided to take the necessary measures.
