Rivers people in diaspora discussing their contribution to Rivers State development

The Action Democratic Party candidate for governor of Rivers State, Angel Lawson, has promised to create jobs, improve electricity access and attract new investment if elected in the 2027 governorship election.

Lawson made the promise alongside his running mate, Orlu Ibrahim Nyekachi, as the pair outlined their plans for the state.

The candidates said Rivers needs a political coalition that puts the interests of residents first. They also warned against alliances that, in their view, could betray the trust of the people.

According to the campaign team, their proposed coalition would focus on delivering what they described as meaningful dividends of democracy.

Lawson and Nyekachi said job creation would form a major part of their programme. They also promised to pursue a fairer distribution of electricity across Rivers State.

The Action Democratic Party candidate said he had already established links with international partners interested in doing business in the state.

He said those partnerships could become active if he wins the election and assumes office as governor in 2027.

Lawson presented the proposed partnerships as part of a wider plan to attract investment and expand economic opportunities for residents.

The 2027 election is expected to bring competing economic and development proposals from political parties seeking to govern Rivers State.

For voters, the key issue will be whether campaign promises can translate into measurable improvements in employment, electricity supply and investment.

The Action Democratic Party candidate is therefore asking Rivers voters to support a programme built around jobs, power and investment as the state moves towards the 2027 governorship election.
