Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri, chief whip of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, chose an electric bicycle over a car because of the high cost of petrol.
On June 1, the member who represents the Madagali constituency in the state Assembly was seen riding his electric bike to work.
In an interview with SaharaReporters, the congressman revealed that because gas prices have increased, he has chosen to use an electric bicycle rather than his personal vehicle to get around on a daily basis.
“The product is currently being sold at filling stations, including those operated by the government, for between N550 and N700 a litre. I doubt that Nigerians can afford it.
I don’t think they can afford to drive automobiles or ride motorbikes any longer, so we are expected to pack our cars and utilize bicycles to identify with the electorate, Jilantikiri remarked.
Therefore, he urged the Nigerian government to deal with the problem immediately.
