Adeleke Campaign Spokesman Threatens ₦10bn Defamation Suit

The spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has threatened legal action against Senator Francis Fadahunsi, demanding ₦10 billion over alleged defamatory statements.

In a letter dated August 12, 2026, Olajengbesi’s lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, accused the Osun East senator of making false and damaging claims during interviews with Viable TV and Channels Television.

The lawyer demanded a retraction and an unreserved public apology within 24 hours, warning that failure to comply would lead to legal action over alleged defamation and injurious falsehood.

According to the letter, one of the disputed comments came during a Viable TV interview on July 2. Fadahunsi allegedly questioned Olajengbesi’s origin and linked him to political thugs and cult groups.

The letter quoted the senator as saying Olajengbesi was “not even from the same Ijebu-Jesha” and was “from somewhere in Ogun State.”

It also alleged that Fadahunsi accused him of “using thugs, Eiye and Aye.”

Olajengbesi’s lawyer said the remarks questioned his client’s identity and suggested that he sponsored or deployed members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups for political activities.

The lawyer also cited Fadahunsi’s appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11, where he was quoted as saying, “Rogba is an Eiye man sponsored by Barr. Olajengbesi terrorising the whole … my own territory up and down through all these Eiye and Aye.”

Olajengbesi rejected the allegations, saying they could damage his personal, professional and political reputation. He also denied financing, sponsoring or supporting any cult group.

His lawyer said the claims implied criminal conduct and demanded that Fadahunsi withdraw the remarks on the same platforms and issue a public apology.

If the senator fails to comply, Olajengbesi’s legal team said it would seek ₦10 billion in damages.
