Head coach of Tunisia, Alain Giresse has warned Nigeria’s Super Eagles that his side will do everything possible to win tonight’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, third-place fixture at the Al Salam Cairo Stadium.
The Carthage Eagles head to the game after losing 1-0 to Senegal in the semi-final encounter last weekend, while Nigeria were defeated 2-1 by Algeria.
Addressing reporters at a pre-match press conference, Giresse expressed the disappointment of his side to the defeat from Senegal but said he has talked to his players to concentrate and win the third-place bronze medal match against Nigeria.
The 67-year-old said: “We will do everything to beat Nigeria to win the third-place match.
“It was difficult for us after the loss to Senegal because we desired to play in the AFCON final. I have been able to talk to my players on the need for them to forget about the defeat and concentrate on the game with Nigeria
“Nigeria also needs the game as well as we do but we are going to do everything possible to ensure that we win the game. We are expecting a tough and strong Nigerian side.”
The kick-off time for the match is 8pm.
