Tunji Wusu –
A flight from Lagos to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, should cost at least N250,000, according to airline companies in Nigeria.
Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines and a spokesperson for Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), made this claim in an interview with Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, August 24.
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, needs to open a window for local airlines to obtain foreign exchange, the AON spokesman said, regretting that operators cannot convert their Naira to Dollars.
“If you believe that tickets are pricey, you probably don’t understand the sacrifices that local operators make. With costs rising daily, he said, “If we have to charge the tariffs, we should be paying at least N250,000 from Lagos to Abuja.
