The All Progressives Congress (APC) has charged Nigerians to hold Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, responsible for the troubles plaguing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no hand in the party’s misfortunes.

The APC issued the statement on Wednesday through its Oyo State Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Olawale Sadare, following claims by some Nigerians linking PDP’s setbacks to President Tinubu.

Sadare argued that Governor Makinde and other PDP leaders “paved the way for the party’s collapse” by failing to address internal issues. He asserted that Makinde’s leadership “ruined the PDP,” leaving the once-dominant party with only a handful of governors nationwide.

He stated that Makinde “lacked the capacity and experience to lead a national party,” adding that his emergence as the sole PDP governor in Southern Nigeria and among only a few left in the North reflected the depth of the party’s decline.

“Rather than look inward for solutions, elders and leaders within the PDP left everything to chance and allowed the likes of Gov. Makinde to take over their party’s affairs,” the statement said.

Sadare stressed that Makinde “cannot rescue the PDP from its current comatose state,” urging Nigerians to allow President Tinubu focus on governing the country instead of linking him to PDP’s internal struggles.
