The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it will formally declare its position on the impeachment move against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the lingering political crisis in the state when internal processes are concluded.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, made this known amid mounting public pressure for the ruling party to clarify its stance on the deepening rift in Rivers politics.

Morka stressed that the APC remains actively engaged in developments in the state, dismissing claims that the party has distanced itself from the unfolding crisis.

The Rivers State House of Assembly had commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara, citing alleged misappropriation of funds and other infractions. The impeachment move is widely seen as an extension of the fierce political struggle for control of the state between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking during an interview on TVC’s Beyond Headlines, Morka said his reluctance to comment publicly at this stage should not be misconstrued as indifference.

“The fact that I’m not willing to make a comment on your show does not mean that the APC is disengaged in Rivers State,” he said.

He explained that the party was committed to handling the matter with caution and institutional maturity, noting that internal mechanisms must be allowed to function without interference.

“We are a political party, and a responsible party at that. Our job is to govern our party maturely. When it’s time to share our positions or decisions on discussions, be rest assured that I will come here and share it boldly,” Morka stated.

He added that due process would ultimately guide the party’s response, insisting that patience was required to ensure a fair and well-considered outcome.

Observers say the APC’s eventual position could significantly shape the political trajectory of Rivers State as tensions continue to rise over the impeachment bid.
