The All Progressives Congress has declared Senators Abdulaziz Yari, Ikra Bilbis and Sahabi Ya’u winners of its senatorial primaries in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The three lawmakers currently represent Zamfara West, Zamfara Central and Zamfara North senatorial districts in the Senate.
Chairman of the APC Senatorial Primary Election Committee, Ishaq Bala, announced the results after the candidates swept the highest votes in their respective contests.
In Zamfara Central, Bilbis secured 127,686 votes to crush Lubna Muhammad, who polled 140 votes, while Aliyu Akilu-Muhammad garnered 8,593 votes out of 136,419 total votes cast.
For Zamfara West, Yari stormed to victory with 125,235 votes, defeating Nasiru Zarumi, who managed 76 votes from a total of 125,311 votes cast.
In Zamfara North, Ya’u clinched 65,642 votes to defeat Hannafi Musa-Moriki, Sani Abdullahi-Shinkafi and Tijjani Yahaya.
Bala described the primaries as peaceful, transparent and orderly, stressing that the exercise recorded no violence or major disputes.
He urged dissatisfied aspirants to channel complaints through the party’s appeal committee scheduled to sit on May 28 in Gusau.
The committee chairman also applauded party members, stakeholders and the Zamfara State Government for sustaining a peaceful atmosphere throughout the primaries.
