The Kwankwasiyya Movement has fired back at comments made by Kano State Government House spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, accusing him of spreading falsehoods during an appearance on Arise Television.

National Coordinator of the movement, Habeeb Saleh Mohammed, dismissed claims that former Kano governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is politically isolated, insisting the NNPP leader remains the dominant force in Kano politics.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Habeeb accused Bature of misleading the public on Kwankwaso’s political alliances and influence.

“Recent political developments in Kano have shown clearly that my boss remains the centre of politics. The ADC became irrelevant in Kano the moment he left,” he declared.

Habeeb also boasted that Kwankwaso still commands massive grassroots support across the state, claiming large crowds continue to trail the former presidential candidate wherever he appears.

“When my boss arrives anywhere, supporters flood the streets and even block access to his residence. That reflects the reality on the ground,” he said.

He further took a swipe at the Kano State Government, alleging that Governor Abba Yusuf’s convoys are often filled with “empty buses,” while Kwankwaso enjoys genuine public backing.

On the 2023 elections, Habeeb rejected claims that Kwankwaso refused to collaborate with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

According to him, both leaders lacked enough time to build political trust and align strategies before the election season intensified.

“At the time, both men strongly believed in their visions and capacities. But politics also requires flexibility and strategic understanding,” he said.

Habeeb added that Kwankwaso remains open to alliances and has continued to assess Nigeria’s political and economic realities with a view to building broader coalitions.

“The country needs leaders capable of bridging political divisions and forming alliances that can unite Nigerians,” he stated.
