Tunji Wusu –

In the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo yesterday welcomed APC defectors who had joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ewhrudjakpo praised them for having the guts to rejoin the PDP, to which they had previously belonged, after joining the opposition.

The PDP family is happy to have the defectors back, the deputy governor stated, adding that they will be completely reintegrated and acknowledged as legitimate members.

Ewhrudjakpo urged others to come back, emphasizing that the party’s umbrella was big enough to hold everyone. Additionally, he assured the delegation that an official ceremony would be held to welcome them back, with Governor Douye Diri and the State Working Committee members in attendance.

The individuals, who were steadfast APC supporters in SILGA, opted to formally join the PDP and support it in the upcoming governorship race, according to Basil Kenbo, the governor’s technical adviser on federal projects.

Kenbo pointed out that their decision to rejoin the PDP was influenced by Governor Diri’s ability to administer the state with maturity and openness as well as the several infrastructure initiatives his administration had taken on.
