Tunji Wusu –

In the petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) has deferred decision until a future date that will be made public.
APM, among others, is requesting the annulment of Tinubu’s election on the grounds that Kashim Shettma, his running companion, was ineligible to run after allegedly engaging in double nominating.

On Friday morning, after the parties adopted their final written addresses, the presiding justice of the court, Justice Haruna Tsammani, declared that the judgment is reserved until a time that would be made known to the parties.

Justice Tsammani further stated that the PDP/Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi/Labour Party (LP) petitions and the APM case would both receive rulings from the court on the same day.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC, Tinubu, Shettma, and Kabir Masari (who served as the APC’s stand-in before Shettma’s nomination) are named as respondents in the petition.

The petition’s respondents are Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), who headed the legal team for Tinubu and Shettma, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Steven Adehi (SAN), for INEC, Roland Otaru (SAN), for Masari, and Andrew Malgwi for the APM.
