Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, and Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, expressed optimism Wednesday that the party will win the 2023 general elections, saying the All Progressives Congress, APC, would not be able to govern Nigeria again.
He claimed that the APC was embarrassed by its performance over the previous seven and a half years and had turned to lies and propaganda.
Speaking during the launch of the PDP’s governorship Local Government campaign in Patani, Patani Local Government Area, Okowa said the party was out to restore the harm and destruction perpetrated on Nigerians by the APC-led Federal Government.
Okowa, who also addressed a mommoth crowd when the campaign train moved to Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, said the APC had nothing to offer Nigerians other than poverty, hunger, and insecurity across the country. He emphasized the need for Nigerians to reject the APC and return the PDP to power in the 2023 polls so that it could rescue and rebuild the country.
“As a party, we have done well for our state and country, but it is unfortunate that the APC came in 2015 and ruined all of our accomplishments,” he remarked.
“Because they are embarrassed by their performance over the last seven and a half years, they have turned to lies and propaganda. They have nothing more to offer Nigerians but poverty, starvation, insecurity, and a collapsing economy.
“I have been touring over the country and I can promise you that PDP will win the 2023 Presidential election. Atiku and I will fix the APC’s damage, all the PDP done before they crashed, and they still have the audacity to campaign.”
To maintain continuity in the development of the state, Okowa urged the people to vote for the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Rt. Hon Sherrif Oborevwori. So Sheriff Oborevwori will carry on from where we left off.”
Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the state’s immediate past governor, also spoke, noting that “for the first time, we have somebody from our home state nominated as Vice-Presidential candidate,” urging voters to vote for all party candidates.
“So we must work hard to guarantee that the PDP wins the Presidential election because if the PDP wins, Okowa will bring some people with him to Abuja and many of our federal highways would be repaired.”
“I have learned a lot from Governor Okowa, and I am extremely delighted that with your votes and the grace of God, he will become our next Vice President,” said Rt. Sheriff Oborevwori, the party’s governorship candidate. Okowa has accomplished much in the last seven and a half years, but if you elect me, I will accomplish even more for Deltans.”
“Nigerians are tired of the APC-led Federal Government,” stated Chief Kingsley Esiso, the Party’s state chairman. This is a train to rescue and restore Nigeria to the old days”.
Chief Funkekeme Solomon, Director-General of the State Campaign Council, urged people to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, or PVCs, so that they could vote for all party candidates.
The distribution of flags to party candidates and the welcoming of Peoples Redemption Party, PRP candidate for Patani Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr Tarelayefa Orogun, who claimed he opted to renounce his mandate to support PDP, were highlights of the gathering.
