Tolu Arokodare cut a frustrated figure on Saturday night after Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered a heartbreaking 2–1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Nigerian forward opened his Premier League account with a composed finish, capping an impressive display in a fiercely contested encounter. Wolves had battled resiliently and looked set to escape with a valuable point after Arokodare struck the equaliser on the stroke of full time.

However, their resistance collapsed in stoppage time when a defensive lapse resulted in an own goal, handing Arsenal a dramatic late winner and extending Wolves’ winless run in the league this season.

Speaking after the match, Arokodare admitted the defeat was difficult to take, insisting Wolves deserved more from the game.

“It is not the first time we conceded in the last minute. It’s something that we have to work on – staying focused to the last whistle. Very unlucky for us. Good goal from them, and I would say it was a little bit of poor defending from us,” he told TNT Sports.

Despite the loss, Arokodare’s maiden Premier League goal offered a positive takeaway for Wolves as they look to correct late-game lapses and turn performances into points.
