Arsenal and Sporting CP have reportedly reached a comprehensive verbal agreement for the transfer of striker Viktor Gyokeres. The deal includes an initial €63.5 million fee plus €10 million in add-ons, with the player’s agent agreeing to lower commission fees.

The 27-year-old Sweden international has emerged as the ideal striker Arsenal has sought over the past two seasons. Despite interest from other clubs, Gyokeres was determined to join the Gunners, underscoring his commitment to the move.

Arsenal struggled without a recognized No. 9 throughout the 2024–25 season due to injuries to key forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. This contributed to the club finishing second in the Premier League for the third consecutive year, trailing champions Liverpool by ten points and scoring 17 fewer goals.

Gyokeres arrives with a proven goal-scoring pedigree, having netted 54 times in 52 appearances for Sporting last season. His signing aims to strengthen Arsenal’s frontline and address a long-standing positional challenge.
