A 35-year-old Nigerian man named Patrick Chizorom Orajaka was detained by Indian police for allegedly engaging in cyber fraud.
On December 15, 2022, a police team detained the suspect at a residence in New Delhi’s Dwarka neighborhood and transported him to Odisha on transit remand.
The culprit was detained, according to a statement from the police, after an Odisha resident from Cuttack filed a complaint. By pretending to be a doctor in the Netherlands on Instagram, he allegedly became friends with her.
They resumed their conversation when she gave him her WhatsApp number. After five days of getting to know each other, the accused told her he was leaving for India to meet her.
The following day, the complainant received a call from a customs officer at the New Delhi Airport informing her that one of her relatives who had traveled to India to meet her had been imprisoned because he had been caught carrying 90,000 euros, which was against the law.
