Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, was forewarned on Monday by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, that he and his party lack any moral grounds for criticizing the Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
The Minister, who discussed the successes in the water sector in Abuja, charged Atiku with attempting to minimize what the Buhari administration had accomplished.
Let me use this occasion to speak on the rising trend among some opposition presidential aspirants to minimize this administration’s accomplishments in their haste to win the presidency in the 2023 elections, Mohammed stated.
“The PDP’s presidential candidate and former vice president Atiku Abubakar has been the greatest offender in this regard.
“The former vice president was cited as declaring that the APC had done nothing for Nigeria in eight years during his recent campaign in Akure.
What a ridiculous claim from someone who ought to know. We might perhaps excuse His Excellency, the former vice president, who had recently moved entirely to Dubai and had so lost contact with Nigeria.
And Alhaji Atiku Abubakar shouldn’t be the one to blame the APC-led Federal Government of doing nothing, according to the statement.
“Why? Because there were no motorable roads to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s hometown or, for that matter, to important local governments in the southern senatorial zone, which served as Adamawa’s food basket and economic hub until the government of President Muhammadu Buhari took office, during the 16 years of the PDP’s rule, eight of which he served as vice president.
“Today, gentlemen, the Mayo Belwa-Jada-Ganye-Toungo Road has completed construction, and Alhaji Atiku utilizes it to travel to Jada, his hometown.
In terms of security, Before this administration took office, Boko Haram insurgents essentially controlled all five of the local government districts in Adamawa’s northern senatorial district.
