The newly released list of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential campaign council for Imo State has been rejected by certain party members.
The list was published on Sunday by the party’s state secretary, Nze Ray Emeana, and included the state’s most recent governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha will serve as the council’s chairman.
The stakeholders described the list as an expansion of Rt. to journalists in Owerri. Hon. The campaign council for Ihedioha.
Speaking for all parties involved, Hon. Ngozi Ogbu criticized the list as phony and the result of imposition, claiming there was no consultation before it was created.
Ogbu is the head of the Divine Mandate Movement, the PDP National Secretary Sen. Samuel Anyanwu’s political organization.
He claimed that when party stakeholders gathered at the secretariat to discuss the campaign council’s makeup, they were shocked to see a list that had already been put together.
Chief Myke Ikoku, who also spoke, backed with Ogbu’s assertion and urged the party’s National Working Committee and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate, to address the problem.
“We the Imo PDP stakeholders reject the bogus Presidential Campaign Council list allegedly announced today, November 13, 2022, by the party’s state secretary, Nze Ray Emeana,” the stakeholders declared.
In order to discuss the makeup of the Presidential Campaign Council and Campaign Management Committee, the stakeholders in Imo State were called to a stakeholders meeting. However, to our shock and dismay, the party secretary instead read out a list of the Presidential Campaign Council and Campaign Management Committee members.
“This caused a commotion, and the overwhelming majority of stakeholders rejected and opposed the statement since it was imposed and was not subject to adequate consultation.
“Members disapproved of any attempt to extend Ihedioha’s Campaign Council through the Presidential Campaign Council.
The imposition of Chief Emeka Ihedioha, a candidate for governor, as chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council and the directors of his campaign team as heads of the several Presidential Campaign Directorates is rejected by the Party Stakeholders.
“It is instructive that the Imo PDP Elders Committee members chose to abstain from the stakeholders meeting for the aforementioned reasons.
“We thus ask the National Working Committee and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, our party’s presidential candidate, to swiftly reverse the situation to secure our Party’s victory.”
