Bandits reportedly attacked Maradun, Zamfara state, the hometown of Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence.
The bandits stormed the community in the early hours of Friday, firing sporadically and ransacking residents’ homes.
Two persons were reportedly slain, and 30 others, including women, children, and adults, were abducted during the two-hour onslaught.
A traditional ruler, whose home had been assaulted by bandits, voiced concern with the town’s high level of insecurity.
The traditional ruler, who spoke with the Daily Post, voiced alarm about the recurrent attacks on the town, stating that a similar attack occurred last Friday.
He urged the Minister of State for Defence, the immediate former governor of Zamfara State, to intervene in his hometown’s security situation to prevent more attacks.
He went on to say, “It was to my hearing that the bandits burgled my palour’s door, coming towards my inner room, I managed to hide while my wives and children followed another passage and ran away to hide somewhere.”
